I know you have no passion for your chores. I know your Mom and I pick up the slack and it seems like there are no ill effects to you not doing the job all the way or half-assing it. However, it concerns me that you are just as lackadaisical on your other, more important endeavors.
All I can do at this point is to let you know that in the real world, you may be able to 'get by' with lack of detail and half-assing your work. You will never be successful if you do. And frankly, you will probably be the first to get fired when the time comes.
You don't have to work yourself to the bone, but you need to give a little bit more of yourself than is required. You may think this is old-timey, but you are young and you need to prove your worth in the workplace, school, and in your home life.
